On Sunday 4 October 2009, Bari’s historic Petruzzelli Theatre reopened, 18 years after the disastrous fire that almost totally destroyed it on 27 October 1991, and following a complex restoration project that returned the building to its original splendour.
The theatre reopened with a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony by the Orchestra of the Province of Bari, with the presence of representatives of public institutions and the city’s mayor. A series of giant screen allowed members of the public outside the theatre to watch the musical event celebrating the rebirth of one of Italy’s greatest opera houses.
* technical description of installation
New Disco Service provided the lighting for the stage where the orchestra conducted by Fabio Mastrangelo performed.
Twenty FOS 100 FULL COLOUR LED bars with 25° lenses were used to colour the large backdrop (18 metres wide and 12 metres high) behind the musicians and choir, set at floor level 1.5 metres away from the backdrop itself.
Twenty-four SCENA 2000 theatre projectors were used for white light, fixed to the stage structures.
